Der Investmentprozess ist Top-Down (Asset-Allokation) und Bottom-Up (Kreditanalyse) getrieben. Das heißt die Asset Allokation wird in regelmäßigen Strategiesitzungen besprochen und ist für die Portfoliomanager bindend. Nach Festlegung der Makro-Strategie analysieren die Kreditanalysten die Einzeltitel in den jeweiligen Regionen/Sektoren, die konsistent mit der strategischen Ausrichtung sind. Der Fokus des Fonds liegt auf hochwertigen Unternehmensanleihen (Investment- Grade), den Emerging Markets sowie High-Yield- Anleihen (max. 10% des Fondsvolumens). Das Management erwirbt nur Anleihen, die den strengen Kriterien von PIMCO`s Kreditresearch gerecht werden. Dies hat sich historisch betrachtet auch in sehr geringen Ausfallraten ihrer Kreditallokation bezahlt gemacht.
