March sa registered jobseekers: +16,600 or +0.6% m/m
PARIS (MNI) - French unemployment rose more than generally expected in March, reversing the slowing trend of previous months, according to seasonally adjusted data released Thursday by the Economics Ministry.
The 16,600 increase in the number of registered jobless seeking full-time employment boosted the total in this category to more than 2.88 million, up 193,300 on the year to the highest level in nearly 13 years. Given the previous slowing trend, few analysts had expected such a large increase.
