The Inaugural German Science Day - Fight Cancer - 2nd February 2012 -
Medical History Museum of the Charité Berlin
Berlin, 26 January, 2012 - On the occasion of the World Cancer Day, the
German Science Day, an initiative of the German biotechnology sector, takes
place on February 2nd 2012 at the renowned University hospital Charité in
Berlin. On the day, 12 leading German companies will give presentations on
their clinical oncology programmes.
The topic of the German Science Day is the fight against cancer. The event
will be divided into four key areas within oncology research: Diagnostics
and Personalized Medicine; Small Molecules; Antibodies; Immunotherapies and
Oligonucleotids in cancer therapy.
In addition to the company presentations two eminent key note speakers will
give their thoughts on the future of cancer treatment from different
perspectives:
Prof Dr med Dr HC Manfred Dietel of the Institute of Pathology, University
Hospital Berlin Charité, Humboldt University, will deliver a talk on
'Biomarkers and new therapy targets'.
Prof Dr rer nat Hans-Georg Rammensee of the University of Tübingen,
Interfaculty Institute for Cell Biology, Department of Immunology, will
deliver a talk on 'The development of therapeutic cancer vaccines'.
The aim of the all-day event is to present the major research and
development contribution of German biotechnology companies working on
cancer to the business and daily press, plus investors and analysts. The
day will focus on raising the awareness of the general public in Germany
and worldwide.

Antisense Pharma GmbH, Apogenix GmbH, Biotest AG, Evotec AG, MOLOGEN AG,
MorphoSys AG, Silence Therapeutics plc, U3 Pharma GmbH, WILEX AG.
