Aimed at Practitioners, Paper Presents Common Factors for Successful Channel

Shift Projects

LONDON, 2012-04-30 10:00 CEST (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

GovDelivery, a leader in cloud-based communication solutions for government,

announced today availability of a white paper by Dr. Gerald Power entitled

'Chanel Shift: Realising the Benefits.' Within the white paper, Gerald

identifies what he calls the 'golden thread' of common factors that connect

successful channel shift projects and lead to the realisation of benefits. His

assessment and presentation of best practices in project development and

execution are aimed at providing guidance to the practitioners tasked with

realising and measuring benefits from channel shift.

Gerald says in introducing his paper, 'While working within government I wrote

several papers on channel shift and challenge optimisation, but have long felt

the need for a piece of work aimed at practitioners and service delivery

professionals rather than policy leaders and the general public. I'm

appreciative of GovDelivery's support in bringing to my attention several

concrete examples of best practice in delivering successful channel shift

projects and helping me share these examples - as well as the thinking behind

them - with those actually executing channel shift projects and looking for

ways to realise real benefits.'

Gerald added: 'One of the most important features of a successful channel shift

project is utilising a cost effective digital management solution for

broadening reach and effectively driving demand to those new channels. I value

GovDelivery's focus on that fundamental aspect of channel shift: communicating

your new proposition to your customers, drawing them into the new channels and

keeping them there.'

Gerald makes several conclusions about the industry throughout the white paper.

Some - such as his contention that the potential savings from channel shift are

real and significant - he admits are not likely surprising. However, he hopes

others will be provocative and notes his most radical conclusion could be that

in order to achieve effective digital self-service, organisations may have to

radically re-think their communication strategies.

'It's been a pleasure to work with Gerald to help bring some of his expertise

and fresh thinking to government agencies as they work to maximise direct

connections with citizens and stakeholders,' said Dave Worsell, Director of

Government Solutions, GovDelivery. 'There are few others with the breadth of

experience and willingness to share ideas and help practitioners realise the

true benefits of channel shift in the current economic climate. We firmly

concur with his conclusion that effective communication is a vital part of

driving channel shift, and that digital communication needs to be at the heart

of any strategy to draw customers into using new self-service channels and of

keeping them in these channels.'
